About the Artist
On one of my bulletin boards in my studio I’ve kept this sentence fragment: “the flatness of medieval space”.
In my own work I aspire to find the essence of an image – a quiet contentment that can reside in a painting when the subject is reduced to color and form. Other times, it is the joyful moment captured in a photograph that then could be painted, as if photography was a language that could be translated into the medium of paint. Making art, then, is another way of seeing and speaking.
